The upcoming EquityCancer-LA international seminar in Bogotá will analyse experiences in integrating care to improve access to cancer diagnosis
The Universidad del Rosario will host the seminar ‘Improving access to cancer diagnosis in health service networks through participatory interventions in Colombia, Chile and Ecuador’ to be held in Bogotá on 4 December, co-organised with the CSC, with the aim of analysing access problems and sharing lessons learned from experiences adapted to improve them in the three countries within the framework of the EU-funded EquityCancer -LA project funded by the EU.
The seminar, which can be attended in person or followed via streaming, will feature national and international speakers and the participation of health authorities, managers and health professionals, academics, social organisations and users.
The seminar programme, which will be opened by academic and health authorities, will consist of three panels. After a brief introduction to the context and methods of EquityCancer-LA, the first panel, dedicated to a comparative analysis of the results on access to cancer diagnosis in Chile, Colombia and Ecuador, will address delays and diagnostic trajectories, based on a patient survey, barriers and facilitators to diagnosis from the perspective of institutional actors, and an analysis of the cost of diagnosis. The second panel will be dedicated to lessons learned in the process of adapting and implementing interventions through participatory processes for early cancer diagnosis in Colombia and will feature testimonials from professionals from the Samaritana Health Network who participated in the process.
Finally, the third panel will be dedicated to lessons learned in the implementation of care integration strategies to improve access to cancer diagnosis in Chile and Ecuador, led by the principal investigators from each country.
