VI International Workshop of EquityCancer-LA Researchers in Santiago de Chile

The Universidad de Chile will host the VI International Workshop of the EquityCancer-LA project (Improving equity in access to early cancer diagnosis: an operational research study in different health systems in Latin America), which will take place from 23 to 30 April 2026 in Santiago de Chile. The meeting is organised in collaboration with the Consorci de Salut i Social de Catalunya and will bring together researchers from the participating teams in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Portugal and Denmark, as well as members of the Local Steering Committees and the International Scientific Committee.

Throughout the week, participants will discuss the main advances of the project. In particular, the results of the qualitative evaluation of the implementation process will be analysed, along with the costs associated with the implementation and sustainability of the intervention. The findings from the effectiveness evaluation, including surveys conducted with physicians and patients, will also be discussed. In addition, the workshop will address diagnostic costs, the development of a strategic framework for large-scale implementation, and progress in the preparation of international and national scientific articles.

On Thursday, 23 April, the international seminar “Improving equity in access to cancer diagnosis in health service networks in different countries in Latin America” will be held. The seminar will present comparative results on access to cancer diagnosis in Chile, Colombia and Ecuador, as well as experiences of care integration developed in these countries and the challenges involved in implementing strategies aimed at improving equity in access. The seminar is open to health professionals, health service network managers, policymakers, academics, researchers and the general public.

This VI International Workshop represents a key opportunity to consolidate collaboration among teams, advance evidence generation and strengthen strategies aimed at reducing inequalities in access to early cancer diagnosis in Latin America.

We will announce the workshop and public seminar programme shortly.
