The Santiago Medical Association has organised a metropolitan dialogue in the context of the recent cancer health alert declared in Chile, a measure aimed at tackling delays in the care of cancer patients.
Entitled “Cancer Alert: Critical Areas for an Effective Response in the Metropolitan Region”, the event will bring together stakeholders from the academic, healthcare and public policy sectors, including Dr Pamela Eguiguren, principal investigator for EquityCancer-LA in Chile, with the aim of analysing the system’s main challenges and proposing coordinated solutions. Organised in collaboration with the Centre for Cancer Prevention and Control (CECAN) and the National Cancer Institute, the event will take place on 1 April in Santiago de Chile and will be open to the public, fostering a space for reflection and collaboration on key areas such as prevention, diagnosis, treatment and palliative care.
This initiative arises against a backdrop of a public health emergency, marked by growing cancer waiting lists across the country, and seeks to contribute to the development of more effective responses that guarantee timely access to care for patients.
